You guys, I'm so sorry for putting those holes in your walls. And stealing your good shoes.

I wondered (1) where those came from (2) what happened to those shoes.

Well, I couldn't walk all the way to the airport to pick up [livejournal.com profile] intenselaura shoeless, could I? Especially with my teeth falling out!

No, I suppose not. Your teeth might have been in better shape if you'd left the walls alone, though.

How was I to know that nailing up a whiteboard for my nephew to use while we visited was going to create such a big, perfectly round hole in your wall? John told me that it was obvious that I shouldn't try putting holes in the walls that went east-to-west, and gosh, someone coulda told me that before the hammer materialized in my hand.

But why did you put all that water in the basement and knock out the hot water heater while you were at it?

Oh, please tell me that part's a dream, too!

Alas, no. Last night at bedtime we found that the hot water was cold, so [livejournal.com profile] jwg went into the basement on discovered about 2 inches of water on the floor, which had killed the pilot on the hot water heater. Probably the result of lots of snow + lots of rain + frozen ground + fairly high water table anyway. We've had some water in the basement in the past, but never this much, and never with this result.

Anyway, there doesn't seem to be any more coming in, and John bought a pump this morning, which is extracting water from the basement as I type.

Yup, furnace is fine. By now you've probably seen [livejournal.com profile] jwg's post with the gory details (http://www.livejournal.com/users/jwg/20012.html).
