Locals take note: In case of BART strike
Aug. 14th, 2009 05:46 pmReceived this from AC Transit today:
ATTENTION ALL AC TRANSIT PASSENGERS:
BART train operators and station agents say they will strike at close of service Sunday. What does this mean for your Monday commute?
If you use AC Transit’s transbay service, be prepared for long lines and crowded buses. BART carries 180,000 passengers through the Transbay Tube every weekday. Those people will be looking for a new way to get to San Francisco, and based on experience from the strike in 1997, many will come to AC Transit. Please be assured that AC Transit will run its usual service and do everything it can to accommodate regular transbay passengers. Where and when possible, AC Transit will use larger buses to accommodate more passengers, and a limited number of additional buses will be available to operate where they are needed most.
If you ride local AC Transit service to connect to a BART station, you should also prepare for more crowded buses. In addition, AC Transit bus stops that are located on BART property will be moved. This will affect the stops at many BART stations, and we are working on diagrams to show passengers where to go. These diagrams will be posted on the AC Transit Web site shortly, and we will send out another e-News message once the information is available.
If the strike happens and you have new fellow riders on Monday, please do everything you can to help them get where they need to go. For those who are unfamiliar with AC Transit, detailed information about the service has been added to the AC Transit Web site.
Thank you very much for your patience!
