My new poem, in progress
Feb. 18th, 2004 08:23 amWe're going to be happy
The way I know
is the way you smile when I awaken you at four in the morning
and the way his breathing gets peaceful and even when my head is on his chest
and the way her step gets bouncy when our car pulls into the drive
We're going to be happy
How I know
is to look at our family and see the brilliant glitter of unconvention
shining through the eyes of people who never planned to get this lucky
of people who never thought that exactly this would be exactly right
We're going to walk the streets of our new home town
where people will learn our names
and we'll buy small and beautiful memories
for our small and beautiful home
We're going to claim the bay, as so many lovers have done before,
and clothe ourselves in color and water and light
and dress warmly -- I may buy my first coat
and we'll see art films
and we'll eat organic asparagus
and we'll climb hills of imagination
while we grab reality in our arms and make it laugh
We're going to be happy
as we are happy now.

Date: 2004-02-18 08:47 am (UTC)Nice, and so evocative of you, lovey.
Date: 2004-02-18 09:26 am (UTC)Did I ever tell you that I have a poetry journal,
My last one, written most inappropriately first thing on my otherwise lovely Valentine's Day, was a spinetingling anger-dispeller.
