  • Because I will need to be warm, and because wearing socks and pants are things I prefer not to do (*strongly* in the former case, less strongly in the latter), I see me in skirts and tights and a really warm coat or duster or something. Already bought gloves.

  • I see us in walking distance from good, fresh produce; an independent bookstore; a video store, likewise independent; some cute shops; the BART; someplace where I can take cool classes (pottery? yoga? C++?).

  • I see myself deciding on a whim to see a movie and having [livejournal.com profile] stonebender to see it with.

  • Likewise Buffy. Likewise Alias. Likewise Six Feet Under. Likewise The West Wing. Likewise Firefly. &c.

  • I see a weekly in-person date with [livejournal.com profile] stonebender instead of a weekly phone date.

  • I see being able to see [livejournal.com profile] sogwife every week instead of every couple-to-few months.

  • I see spending significant time every day on my writing.

  • I see my car lasting a lot longer because there's actual public transportation in the Bay Area.

  • I see (and this is just a hunch) me feeling like I'm finally in the town I should've been born in; finally home, among my chosen family and friends, and in the best place to grow and bloom for the next lovely stage of this wonderful, rich life I have.

Three weeks. The nervousness comes and goes, but the peace and joy are settling in. [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy is a large part of the reason for that. If I didn't already have the name "serene", I would have to bestow it on him. I have never met a calmer human being in my life. (Even when he's stressed and nervous, he's mellow. He's really a perfect companion for me in that way. Of course, my other sweeties are perfect companions for me, too, but in different ways.)

That's exactly how I feel about life here. Plus there will be random meetings with friends at the grocery store or in the mall, and planned dinners or parties with ditto (like the one last night where I got to meet [livejournal.com profile] stonebender.

We talked about you. Everyone said you're beautiful, unique, and truly serene. I'm eager to meet you.

I can't come up with the words. Fingers poised over the keyboard, I want to tell you how welcome you are. There is a collective smile, I think, at the thought of you living up here :):). I am *so* looking forward to seeing you much more often!

I feel like I've made too big a deal out of it, but part of my daydream includes time with you, food or no food.

i thought about moving

to the bay area... but moving is so stressful and the cost of living is so high there. Not to mention I'd be moving away from my family and my son. And making new friends all over again is hard. At least I found my little corner of queer heaven here in the chicago area.

<teasing>Thanks for the encouragement!</teasing>

And making new friends all over again is hard.

*nod* For me, it's easier, because more than half of my good friends live in the Bay Area. I'll actually be moving closer to most of the people I care most about.

By "tights", do you mean footless tights/leggings? If not, why do tights bother you less than socks? I'm quite the opposite.

No, I mean footed ones, and they bother me less than socks for a few reasons:

1) socks are a pain in the ass to put on, for me, and tights/pantyhose are not.

2) socks bother me where they end on my calf.

3) my legs are different widths, so my right sock never fits right, and either falls down or cuts into my skin

4) I find socks kinda ugly, but not tights

I wear socks that come all the way up my legs. I hate tights because they always either sag or pinch my toesie woesies. I hate socks that stop on my calves - in high summer I can wear ones that stop sharp at my ankles, but never a halfway house.

Pregnancy has taught me the true value of a shoehorn. Woooo!

Ineteresting. I find socks much easier to put on than tights. Different bodies...

Since I have Toenails of Steel, I tend to put my toes through tights long before the rest of them are worn out. So I wear leggings and socks, and in cold weather join the two with legwarmers.

Two thoughts:

1. Leg warmers. Yummy, lovely, wonderful legwarmers in luscious colors. (http://www.footraffic.com/subcatpage7.html)

2. 826 Valencia (http://www.826valencia.org/). I only know of them by reputation, but they seem like a resource every writer-type person in San Francisco ought to know about ... and they have a pirate supply store, too! (http://www.826valencia.org/)

1. Oh, honey. Legwarmers? Oh, dear. No no no. No legwarmers. All the worst qualities of socks and tights and pants and... just no.

2. Yay, thanks!

It will all depend on whether or not I get a job first. If yes, we'll try to live within walking distance of the job. If no, we're going to look at the East Bay (Berkeley, Oakland) and Santa Rosa.

I like where I am not near chicago though i wish I saw more of my son. It is good to visualize your ideals. That is the best way to make them come true because it implants them in your sub conscious and enables you to act on them.

I see us in walking distance from good, fresh produce;

At the Berkeley Bowl!

an independent bookstore;

That would be Pegasis, Fine Books!

a video store, likewise independent;

That's Movie Image, a great place to find obscure stuff or Reel Video, right?

some cute shops; the BART; someplace where I can take cool classes (pottery? yoga? C++?).

Maybe we could take a class together!

I see myself deciding on a whim to see a movie and having stonebender to see it with.

I'd really enjoy that. Buttercup!

Likewise Buffy. Likewise Alias. Likewise Six Feet Under. Likewise The West Wing. Likewise Firefly. &c.

Yep, yep, yep!

I see a weekly in-person date with stonebender instead of a weekly phone date.

Life will be *so* good!

I would *adore* that.

As you wish, I was just guessin' at what places you might be referring to. SF has plenty of small fresh produce places.
