Wonderful weekend, wonderful welcome
May. 9th, 2004 12:59 pmIf anyone has ever felt as happy and welcomed as I do, I'm happy on their behalf.
Friday night, stayed up latelatelate getting ready for the housewarming. Ate way too many of
lyrical1's cookies while baking them; made a really yummy batch of toffee; got my house clean-enough. Went to bed around 1:30, 2am.
Really; it was too many cookies. Woke up at 6am with *such* a bellyache. Decided that since I was up, I might as well start a batch of French bread. Tried to sleep while it rose, but no dice. Did a little more cleaning; pressed
someotherguy into service cutting cheeses. Pressed
sogwife into service cleaning some of the chairs we found in the abandoned storage closet. Umrelaxed for a little while; reshevelled myself. :-)
It was lovely. Really sweet and kind friends came by, entertained me and each other for hours, and brought lovely gifts. There was much talking and laughing, and I really enjoyed seeing and hearing from them all. Okay, most of them. :-)
eeyore_grrl spent the night, and could anyone be more delightful? She was the perfect houseguest, and we all really enjoyed her funny stories and extra-sharp wit. So glad to have met another cool internet friend who turns out to be a cool in-person friend.
Brunch this morning at East Village Seafood. Really good.
eeyore_grrl should have paid about a third of what she did, because she's a vegetarian and ate very little, but my brain was turned off and I didn't think to refuse her money. I blame my tiredness. Nice company -- my sweetie
stonebender was there with his partner, as were
firecat and hers. (I'm not even going to *try* to list all the people who were at the house last night -- I would definitely forget people, and I don't even want to risk it.)
Anyway, I love my new space, I adore my friends, and I'm so glad to have finally met so many of the heretofore unmet ones. Thank you all for coming, and for being such wonderful, wonderful people. Now I shall sit around and rest while
sogwife does the dishes, because she's a dear darling.
