Relaxment day!
Aug. 29th, 2004 10:23 amIt's been a very busy, very full summer. Loads and loads of houseguests making my basement apartment feel like a really groovy bed and breakfast; new experiences in my neighborhood almost every day; much much love and good sex; many many challenges to my self-image; scads and tons of time spent with local friends who are *finally* local to me. Life has been very full, work has been very good, and I, well, I've been running on empty.
Sometimes I don't acknowledge what a huge drain it can be moving five hundred miles and establishing a whole new home town and life. It's been good, I wanna be clear about that, but it's been hard, too, and tiring.
Anyway, today is Relaxment Day(tm). I get to do lots of nothing. No one is allowed to want anything from me today, and I haven't even put any clothes on yet. I'm just sitting here goofing off on the computer, and that may be all I do all day. Lots of weekends end without a chance to breathe or sit or read or just be, but this one will not.
someotherguy is poised to pamper me as needed, and he and
sogwife will go off and do stuff for part of the day so I can get some alone-time. Life is good.
Oh, the party yesterday. We went over early so I could help set up, but most everything was done already (Carol and I had spent the previous afternoon and evening doing some of the prep, but Carol did tons more in the morning before we arrived). It went really well. Lots of people showed up, and I made sure to stick around for my favorite part. Often, when I'm at a party with someone else, I leave early because they're over it, and I end up missing the end, which is my favorite part. Not the bitter end or anything -- I am rarely the last to leave -- but the part where the party proper is over and people start being all relaxed and silly and singing Eagles songs and showtunes just because. And showing their tits. And making goofy puns. And lounging around in my lap. And smooching me in the moonlight. You know, stuff like that. Anyway, it was perfect, and I'm so glad I went, and so glad I arranged to be able to stay a good long time.
Anyway, on with Relaxment Day. Hope your day is as good and revitalizing as mine is shaping up to be.

Date: 2004-08-29 09:06 pm (UTC)Probably just as well, mind you; we'd played nearly four hours and could easily have kept right on going - and I do need to do laundry and otherwise get things ready for the work week.

(do you know the underlying stuff is all different but so much of the surface stuff of our lives for the past year and a half has run in parallels that i worry that i'm going to wind up moving 500 miles.)
