Wise words from mathilde (in a locked post of someone else's, but I got mathilde's permission to quote this:

Love and determination, love and strength, caring, communication, mediation, compromise, honesty with yourself and others, and plain old hard work can overcome many a lousy situation. But love itself is a rather weak and wishy-washy force, easily dissuaded and blinded by its own shiny purity. It's just not enough, on its own, to fix anything.

I almost disagreed with you but realized I have had honesty with myself and done lots of hard work. I just want to add that one thing that helped me do all the hard work is unconditional love. 'Not lack of boundary' love but deep non-verbal unconditional love.

Indeed, it isn't. And sometimes the willingness to do those other things falls short in the face of the shiny purity of love.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more. But I think I use a different definition of "love" than this does - I don't see it as an emotion, but as an action verb.

Hmm. I think many of those are built into my definition of love. That shiny wishy-washy thing can be part of what motivates me to keep plugging at the rest, but on its own, I don't call it love.
