The eggnog was too strong/sweet.

I cut it with whipping cream.

Oh my god.

I also used to find eggnog much too sweet and the only way I could drink it was to cut it with milk [or booze, lol].

Now, I make my own homemade soy nog and I can control the amount of sweetener that goes into it. I like it so much better!

I particularly love all the tasty things you can do with leftover eggnog ... quick bread, cheesecake, kringla, etc. Yum!!

Tis the season. :-D

I have never understood the concept of low-fat eggnog and pray I never have to settle for it.

Cut the sweetness. Oh, god, I *love* homemade egg nog... Pure fat and alcohol :).

Not sure why, but I thought she was talking about thickness.

I am impressed that you made you own egg nog. I have never had home-made! Kinda sad huh?

Oh, I didn't make it. I have a feeling if I made eggnog, I would cut the sugar by about half. It's always too sweet for me.

I'm assuming you didn't ask for my eggnog recipe because it doesn't convert well to quantities less than 1000 gallons?

Ooh, tell! Are there lots of salmonella germs involved, I assume? ;-)

It is really sweet. I buy it every holiday (if they have it) for my daughter. I very seldom drink it myself. :)

I drink a few glasses around this time every year, and that's enough to hold me for another year. :-)

No it's really quite simple.

600 gallons whole milk
200 gallons half and half (unlike your whipping cream it's homogenized)
150 pounds of powdered egg nog solids
50 gallons of corn syrup
and 1 pound of nutmeg

Blend at low speed and pasteurize.

Enjoy!
