The pies are in the oven. I have an odd affection for the combined smells of pie and singed waxed paper.
Went and did laundry today. While in Berkeley doing laundry,
someotherguy and I made a Walgreens trip for stuff we still needed, thought of more stuff we still needed, and bought a magnetic dart board! Also, we stopped at Pegasus and got my Writer's Market and Poet's Market (I could have walked across the street last week and gotten them sooner and perhaps cheaper, but I get a little thrill out of *not* shopping at Barnes & Noble.) I've been writing lately, and I also have old stuff that I've never sent around and still like, so there ya go.
Also while in Berkeley, stopped at the kitsch store (its real name is the Berkeley Mart) and bought a ton of extra flatware. Ten or twelve forks or spoons for four dollars a bundle. Got two bundles of each. Not bad.
someotherguy put together the barstools and started the cold-brewed espresso, 'cause he's a helluva guy.
Put together most of the spinach dip.
Ordered pizza. I love Pizza The Hut's pan pizza, but it's too greasy for me, and I don't like thin crust. Their (new-ish?) hand-tossed crust is the perfect compromise. (I wanted Round Table, but they don't deliver here.)
Got the ingreediments together for the stuffings. Forgot and used butter to saute the veggies instead of vegan margarine, so the non-turkey stuffing will be vegetarian, but not vegan.
Talked to Munchkin The Elder for thirty or forty minutes while I cooked. It was nice.
Made hummus, which I hadn't originally planned, but I had all the stuff, and thought of it early enough to do the soaking/cooking on the garbanzos, so I went for it. Am also sprouting garbanzos in the cupboard for the salad.
Got lots left to do, and plenty of time to do it. Yay.

Date: 2004-11-25 04:57 am (UTC)So, you actually *leave* the waxed paper in? Why? I've never had a problem getting pie out of a pan and I don't see what the purpose would be.
waxed paper and pie
