I'm not much of a fighter.

When I was attacked, I was in shock. I had lost a lot of blood, I was very frightened, and really, I'm truly not a fighter. For most of the assault, I complied and did what I needed to do to stay alive. When it was time for me to fight or die, I fought. Fighting was not my natural impulse, but I'm glad I fought, because I know without a doubt that fighting saved my life.

Now you can help other women learn to fight if they're attacked -- and way too many women are attacked. Please go read [livejournal.com profile] vito_excalibur's post on the matter and help if you're moved to do so. She already has the $100 she was seeking for her fight fee, but she's still accepting donations, and really would like attendees to support her and this great cause. Thanks for listening.

A good cause for sure

When I was a teenager I had a paper route. A fellow paper person was kidnapped from his route and has body was found several days later. When this happened the paper sponsored a kinda awareness, class. What I learned there has staid with me all these years later. Be aware of your environment, do not assume to trust everyone, keep your distance, if at all possible stay in the light or walk with a friend. Since then I have studied afew things on defense. I always have my keys out before I leave to go to my car. The knee, nose, eyes and feet are the best places to hit. Using your elbow, knee, sole of your palm can give the best advantage and cause the most pain and damage. I hate that I have to keep these facts in mind but I am glad I do know them too. BRAVO to all that keep themselves safe.
