About six or seven months ago, [livejournal.com profile] alanbostick brought me an incredible housewarming gift -- a jar of his sourdough starter. About a month later, I wrote to him and told him that I was embarrassed because I hadn't done a thing with it, and I was sure it was dead. When I went to throw it away, though, it looked fine, so I left it in the fridge. And left it. And left it. It still looks fine, so, umm, it's refreshing in my oven, and maybe tomorrow night we'll have fresh bread for game night. Wish me luck. Gotta check on it in six hours. I've never done this before, and I'm more nervous about it than I was about my first time having sex.

But at least baking the bread will not cause any messy physical or emotional complications later...it's something you can just throw away guilt-free if you end up not liking it ;)

Is there a comparable risk of yeast infection?

Health tip: don't have sex with the sourdough starter.

You made me and the boyfiend ([livejournal.com profile] someotherguy's new nickname) laugh out loud.
