Sitting here naked, eating a pear, and working up the energy to clean my house. Instead, I believe I shall write in my LJ. Isn't that the way it works? (Edit: by the time I'm actually posting this, two loads of dishes are done, the rest are stacked, breakfast has been made and consumed, my loves are awake, and I'm eating a bowl of corn while I type.)

Had lots of fun on Friday night. The daytime wasn't as fun, because I'd let the house get a lot messier than it usually is, so getting it to a comfy level of squalor was harder than usual, and I was not in the mood. Nor, apparently, was anyone else, so I did it myself and it wore me the fuck out. My reward for all that work? By the time people got there, there was chili on the stove, fresh bread in the oven, and I was able to sit and relax and have a ton of fun playing games.

[livejournal.com profile] the_ogre, [livejournal.com profile] 7patches, [livejournal.com profile] dryadgrl, her son C, and her sweetie A came first, and we (except C, who entertained himself) played Apples to Apples. It's a really fun game to play with geeks with senses of humor.

As we were setting up to play another game (Cranium), P arrived. He had read about the local poly meetup on a local poly list, and had contacted me about that. When he said he was a few blocks away, I invited him to the game night, and he stopped by. I didn't care much for the game Cranium itself, but the enthusiasm he and the others brought to it made it fun for me. (About Cranium: I think it would be a fun game for teenagers or people who like easy, silly games, but for adults, it's a little... I don't know. Anyway, the people playing it were fun, but the game's not going to be a favorite. Oh, well.)

After folks left, I left the party dishes where they were (they're still there, actually) and went to watch Pirates of the Caribbean with my partners. I made it about halfway through before zonking. I'll watch the rest later. Today, I'm all about getting my house clean. (My partners want to go see Team America today at the Parkway -- we'll see. If I'm able to do it quickly/easily, or they help, maybe I'll go.

Yesterday morning, I had a great time. Picked up some stuff at the store (didn't make hummus after all -- bought it instead. The Berkeley Bowl's deli sells a whole quart of the stuff for around ten dollars, so I got a few of those instead of knocking myself out). Went over to [livejournal.com profile] stonebender's and spent the rest of the day doing food prep and hanging out at their annual xmas open house. Their house is decorated to the max (imagine a really well-done Christmas specialty store), and people love coming to see the sparkly glittery fabulosity, and eating the amazing spread Carol always puts out.

Also, discovered during a cracker run that they have a really cool store near them -- kind of a miniature Berkeley Bowl, with good bread, organic produce, and lots of cool packaged stuff -- I bought some vegan "pate" stuff that I'm eating now, and it's *good*.

My other partners showed up in the evening, and I had a good time bouncing back and forth between talking with my three sweeties, and being social at the party. There was a bit more political discussion than I was in the mood for in the main party area, so I spent more time in the back room with my loves than I normally do. It was actually very nice. Plus, I kept being the Queen of Food Replenishment, and that's fun for me. I like having a job to do at social functions.

Anyway, the party was great, and we left there around midnight or so.

Got tickets, and the Munchkins are about to hit town. On Thursday, I will pick up Munchkin the Elder at the airport, and zie will be here until a week later. Then zie and I will fly to San Diego, where I'll stay through xmas (our Friday thing is cancelled for 12/24, but we'll be here on New Year's Eve for anyone who wants a low-key gathering). After xmas, I'll fly back up with Munchkin the Younger, who will turn 13 while zie's here, and who hasn't been on an airplane since zie was an infant. Fun stuff.

I have to be *really* careful with money for a while, so I'll be declining (or, if they're publicly posted, ignoring) some invitations and stuff, but our Friday night things will go on no matter what (with the abovementioned exception) -- I am my mother's daughter, and there is always enough money for food. I have decided to work from home for as long as possible -- when I start to run out of money, I'll get a job (temping, probably), but the bills are covered for the next couple of months, and being home has been so unbelievably restorative for me that I will continue to do it for as long as I can come up with my share of the bills.

Have a wonderful Sunday. I plan to.
