Wow, what a weekend. I can barely believe all that was crammed into three days.

I'm off on Fridays, and Friday was [livejournal.com profile] sogwife's birthday, so as luck would have it, we were up late Thursday night dealing with an emotional family discussion. Bleargh. Drama. Way to usher in your sweetheart's birthday. (I should note that our "drama" is so mellow that I doubt many other people would label it that way. Really, it's kind of my code for "emotional discussion", which is hyperbole, but there you have it. We have talked about it and decided that we appear to have the least dramatic "drama" of anyone we know.)

Friday, while she was at work, [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy and I took a little time together and got the house in shape for [livejournal.com profile] sogwife's birthday party. She came home for lunch in a good mood, which relieved us all, I think, and when she got home, some great people were there to celebrate her birthday with her: [livejournal.com profile] minimo, [livejournal.com profile] fannyfiga, [livejournal.com profile] berkeleyfarm, [livejournal.com profile] dryadgrl and her son, and [livejournal.com profile] wild_irises. They all brought lovely treasures, and everyone was just charming. It was very nice.

Saturday morning at 3am, my mother ([livejournal.com profile] mommaduck) and Munchkin The Elder (MTE) left San Diego for Oakland. At 11am, they arrived, thanks to my mom's lead foot. Hanging out was had. [livejournal.com profile] sogwife went to work, and the rest of us went to dinner with [livejournal.com profile] stonebender and [livejournal.com profile] loracs, who had to order an extra dish of eggplant to make up for my greediness with the wonderful stuff. ;-)

Sunday, [livejournal.com profile] dryadgrl dropped her son off to play with MTE, and they had a great time. More family drama occurred, about which I don't really want to talk right now, except to say that as a result I'm kinda emotionally drained and wanting to get some sleep and then tackle it head-on so it can stop happening.

Mom and MTE leave tonight after dinner. I loved seeing them. I will miss them. And at the same time, I want some quiet and solitude. I think my family needs it.

The question of the day is...

how did the tiramisu come out!??!!?!

Sounds like a very busy weekend! Glad you'll get some peace and quiet, now!

Dinner was lovely

It was very nice seeing your Mom and MTE. Your mother reminds me of a combination of my mom and my aunt (who was a second mother to me). Would have loved to see the three of them around a card table - both my mom and aunt loved to play.

Sorry you're feeling so drained right now. *Hugs*
