Day 1, Poem 1

In the afterevening of the hollow day
she stopped breathing for an instant
as the realization, sharp and sudden,
hit there. Yeah, there.
The reality,
liquid and bloodwarm,
took a few days to spread to her limbs,
out to her fingers,
her legs, feet, toes.
To the part of her that could move.
But eventually,
she could walk.
And she walked.
That wasn't the end she expected.
Or the one you wanted.
But she walked.
