Obvious-Girl's Declaration of the Day:

It's so much easier to get up in the morning when I get enough sleep.

I was so surprised when I woke up at 5:30 today (an hour before my alarm clock was due to go off) until I remembered that I'd put myself to bed at 9 the night before, after about a week of erratic, up-past-midnight bedtimes. Funny how a good night's sleep actually leaves you wakeful in the morning!

Stating the obvious is an underrated skill! Thinking of that always reminds me of a scene I saw in my early days of going to improv. One character was going around telling everyone "I have Fig Newtons down my pants!". Eventually someone said "Well take them out!", and it was the funniest thing in the world.

What is this "enough sleep" of which you speak?

It makes such a difference in my ability to cope with stuff. I really try to make sure I get enough sleep, but I'm not always good about it, especially once winter is over and I feel more energetic -- I'd rather stay up puttering around the house and catching up on Usenet than sleep.

I've always worked 8am-5pm, but I've never been good about getting up in the morning. I do not want to get out of bed if I'm cold, especially my shoulders. I also want food. It's not even about being hungry. If I'm going to leave my bed, I want to be warm and fed. Then I'm faced with leaving my house to come to work, Mornings are hard.

I worked nights for over 20 years. The first job I had were I had to work days I was in actual physical pain for the first two weeks. But sense I have been on a regular daytime schedule for two years now I often wake up before my alarm.(And find it VERY hard to stay awake past 10 or 11.)It helps if I think of the time I need to get up the night before. In my family we have a weird internal clock. At least my mom says my gram had it and I seem to have inherited it. I do find that if i get at least 7 hours sleep better if I get 8 I do deal with the day better I agree.

My obvious statement yesterday....
"Root Canals don't hurt much after they numb you up really well"
