I started to say:

I want a new word. "Frubbly" is too cutesy, and "compersion" is stupid and sterile. I want a word that means...

But then I'm the Princess of Use More Words(tm), so I think what I don't need is one new word that encapsulates it all. What I need is to use my words and talk about what a complex and wonderful mix of emotions is involved in some things -- how it's part joy and part nostalgia, part motherly concern and part adoring onlooker, part voyeur and part outsider. I want to talk about how good it is to be happy for the pure reason that someone you love is happy, and how that's really not sullied by the fact that there's a three-year-old inside you who wants to be the center of the universe. And how adoration and concern and amusement and security and bounciness and touch-starvation and complete satiety can all coexist in the same head at the very same moment, and all can still be completely right with the world.

There is so much love in my life that sometimes it leaks out of my eyes. That, dear schillerium, is what schmoopy means.
