I'm one of those goofy hippychicks who thinks menstruation is kind of beautiful. I don't mind my period (probably because I don't have severe PMS symptoms) and I'm not icked out by the blood and stuff -- I think it's kind of interesting.

That said, there's a one-or-two-day period (heh) some months, where I don't love that I'm a hazard to clothing, linens, and furniture, no matter what I do. I can change every half hour and that doesn't always help.

Fortunately, this is just a day or so a month these days. I remember when I had my period every day for three YEARS*, and it was this bad maybe ten days a month. Now THAT was really inconvenient. This is just mildly annoying. (I'm missing my date with [livejournal.com profile] stonebender, which is the worst part, but he and I bail on each other fairly frequently and we'll make up for it tomorrow or the next day, I'm sure.)

Oh, and if you have this problem and feel all alone, I can recommend the Menobabes of alt.support.menopause. I remember when I first found alt.support.menopause. [livejournal.com profile] kightp probably pointed me there, but it might have actually been before I met her. At any rate, it was the first time I discovered that other women were dealing with the same thing I was, and it was SUCH a relief to be able to say "It was so bad I just spent a couple hours in the bathtub today rather than dealing with it" or "If I used cloth pads, I would never stop doing laundry" and having people totally understand what I was talking about.

*And yes, I definitely did get severe anemia from bleeding every day. I should have expected it, but I didn't think losing menstrual blood was the same as bleeding.
