My computer is dead. My mom is sending me a disk that may repair it, but I'm not too optimistic. It's not a huge deal, especially since I have (limited) access at work, but it means I don't check my mail as often, I'm not following Usenet at all, and I've gone nomail on most of my lists. It also means there's a chance I have missed emails from people I actually care about. Please give me a heads-up if I owe you email or somethin'. Thanks.

In other news, I had a mostly good weekend, after a difficult start. Got sunburned, learned a new (Cheapass) game, walked a lot with [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy, ate way more meat than I usually do, made yummy food, spent some good time with [livejournal.com profile] sogwife that wasn't just processing our stuff, got a job offer (Ikea -- don't know if I'm taking it), bantered with [livejournal.com profile] stonebender and [livejournal.com profile] loracs, and so on. My new philosophy this week, as suggested by my wise love [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy, has been (to paraphrase) "I'm doing the best I can, and giving what I can, and anyone who has a problem with that can take a number or go away." In the nicest possible way, of course. It's really made the difference for me emotionally.

Off to my really great job. May it last forever, or until I don't love it any more.

My sister used to work at Ikea and enjoyed it quite a bit - the best part being that part-time employees got benefits.

Yay for really great jobs, and for sweeties with damned good advice.

And fie on moribund computers.

If you take the job at Ikea, could you send me lightbulbs? My landlords put in light fixtures in which the only replacement bulbs that I have found are at Ikea...which we don't have in NM and which Ikea doesn't sell on their website. Argh!

I can send you lightbulbs even if I don't get the job, silly. Send me an email with the info.

I can understand! *hugs*

My computer died several years ago and at the time I didn't have a job. My baby bro did one of the sweetest things ever. He put together another computer for himself and gave me his older one. Even had it set up so I didn't have to pay to get on line. It may not happen all the time but there are definitely times he ROCKS! I am a lucky lady to have such a great family!

Hope things are fixed soon.

...now that BayCon is over, I could possibly help you with your Mac, if you'd like. I have a number of good software tools and a lot of expertise available.

Mm-hm. That works.

That would be really wonderful. My mom said she's going to mail me a copy of DiskWarrior, but any help you feel like giving would be so great. I could cook you dinner one day this week or next, if you like?

Ok. I'll bring my copy of Diskwarrior and my Apple Hardware Test disk as well, plus any other tools I can think of.

I think that tomorrow would work well for me, but if we need more lead time, then any day next week will work.

I have plans Monday, but Tues/Weds/Thurs would work. Do you have a preference?
