Summer cold be damned; having a great day. Wish I could stay at the cool
job, but maybe I'll come back some time to relieve their regular
receptionist. The day is gorgeous, it's almost lunchtime, and I have
nothing to complain about. How's your Friday going?

Good. I got my lesson plans done for Sunday. I went to an efficient rehearsal for a concert on Sunday afternoon. Soon I will get dressed for shul. After shul, I'll watch "Motorcyle Diaries" with an old friend from college.

I hope that you get to go back to the cool job, too.

Not much. Wicked headache, plus what firecat artfully calls a "Hydra Day," (for every task you eliminate, ten pop up in its place).

But I'll have some vacation time soon. :)

RA is coming up to visit. :) No firm plans yet, but there was talk of visiting Niagara Falls and talk of visiting Montreal.

Nice! I've never seen the Falls (or any big waterfall) and one of my real joys in life is the sound of rushing water (I love a really fierce rainstorm, f'rex).

I don't know if I'd say it's worth the trip just to see them, but if you're ever in the area, it's worth visiting. It's a truly impressive sight.

I have some nice photos of some big waterfalls in Hawaii as well, though, and Hawaii had a lot more ancillary value than Niagara Falls (which, other than the falls themselves, is a big tourist trap).

Oh, gosh, how could I forget the falls on Oahu? (I didn't get very close, but I did see them. Gorgeous!)

And Hawaii was more beautiful than I thought it would be. I was thinking it would probably be all glitzy and tacky and it was gorgeous.

Which islands did you manage to get to? I actually found Oahu glitzy and tacky, but I think that that was compared to Hawai'i and Kaua'i. :) I want to go back, for sure. I'd like to see Maui also, at least, and do some of the more secluded hiking trails on Kaua'i.

I was in Honolulu in ummmm, '94? (And when I was a baby, but I don't remember that.) So much more beautiful than anything I'd seen. I was completely mesmerized by the sand, which was like little polished rocks rather than the sand I was used to (I grew up in coastal Spain and San Diego, so I thought I knew what sand was like.) I haven't made it to any of the other islands yet.
