USians: On this Independence Day, I resolve to hope and work for the dethronement (oy, typo: demise) of the evil dictator, our own king george. Who's with me?

Certainly me.

I'm more into working to make sure that he can't accomplish anything until his term ends and the Constitution itself properly dethrones him.

I don't think that's sufficient. I think the only proper end to his Presidency is having a majority of Republican Senators to vote guilty after a majority of Republican Representatives vote to impmeach him. (In additional to nearly all of the Democrats, in both cases, of course.)

Mind, I'm not going to shout that goal out and piss people off by doing so... but anything less is a crushing defeat for American ideals.

(All the above is my (not very) humble opinion, of coure, and I have no problem with people disagreeing.)

While I agree that that would be an overwhelming victory for American ideals, I think that we can survive with less.

do i hear anyone but fringe folks in all seriousness say "impeachment"? the republicans were so eager for it over clinton's dissembling; what bush has done is so much worse, and continues to cost lives every day. where are the republicans who manage to stay true to their own alleged ideals?

it's a good day for asking difficult questions.

You know, I wasn't going to really respond to this---nothing personal, I just didn't feel motivated---but now I'm sitting here at work, looking at the lyrics for "I was only nineteen" (http://www.hotkey.net.au/~marshalle/only19/only19.htm) and trying not to weep too obviously.
