It's been such a weird food day.

breakfast: kielbasa and mayo on toast
lunch: open-faced Ikea tuna sandwich, chocolate mousse, mac-and-cheese, and OJ (all for 2 bucks)
dinner: cooking potstickers, but in the meantime I've eaten a sandwich of sweet pickles, red onion, and mayo on Struan bread, and a bowl of bananas with honey (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] dryadgrl) poured on them. I'm weird. I should do something odd to the potstickers just to be consistent.

K it's so wierd to see my name in that context that I have to know.

What is Struan bread?

It's a multi-grain bread made by the Brother Juniper's bread company. Has poppyseeds on it. Makes lovely toast.

May I suggest

a little peanut butter on the pot-stickers could give it a trashy Tai-ish taste (say that 3 times fast!) My day started out very traditional, eggs over easy and toast. Lunch was ground up bologna a la Ham salad style, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] dbubley - very midwestern. Dinner was a spread of vegetarian and vegan food at a Art & Activism event. It was all very good but I have to admit that the Peta woman running after me to give me another pamphlet was a little freaky. She stopped short of telling me about the wonders of losing weight on a vegan diet (although the pamphlet was full of such talk). I only said hello to her cause I was waiting to talk to the person at the table next to hers and noticed a pamphlet advertising recipes and I'm always on the look out for new ideas. She made me want to come home and fry up some bacon!

My own weird food day involved Velveeta/RoTel dip and corn chips for brunch, a dab of smoked salmon spread on crackers and a dinner of baked french toast (because I had half a loaf of petrified Italian bread I didn't want to throw out) topped with the last of the blueberries.

Oh, and a handful of sugar snap peas while I was watering the garden.

That approximates a balanced diet, right?

*sigh* I love kielbasa - I was introduced to it by a friend in Pittsburgh when I visited there - wow 9 years ago!

I haven't managed to find it anywhere in NZ - lots of german and italian sausage - but no polish :(

I even have the recipe for pirogies to go with it!

*sigh*

My wierd food moment for yesterday was when I realized I was eating garlic naan spread with tzatziki sauce. I finally gave up and just ate it with a spoon. That was dinner.
