Jul. 27th, 2005 12:49 amWe went to Ikea and only spent around $60 (which is actually a lot of money for us right now, but a little in terms of what we got). We got so much:
* A clothes rack
* A shoe rack
* A spice rack (apparently, tonight's Ikea theme was "racks", and if you know what pigs we are, you can supply your own joke here)
* A citrus zester
* Silicone pastry brush and barbecue brush
* Swedish fish, which I just remembered about and must now go get some of
* Mortar and pestle
* Beer glasses for
(Speaking of non sequiturs, does anyone local like tequila? A cow-irker went to Tijuana and brought some back for me. It's a very small bottle, but I don't like tequila even a very small bit. I could be persuaded to cook some good Mexican food to go with it, though, if anyone wants to invite zirself over.)
Our second frugal trip was to Good Vibrations. Found almost exactly what I wanted for under thirty dollars. Go, me! (Had they had *exactly* what I wanted, I would've gladly paid a lot more. Meanwhile, this works. Oh, man.)
And then we went to the Berkeley Bowl. We were frugal there in a different way. We got the best cheese we could afford, but we bought just a little of it. Ditto cherries. Lovely dinner -- D'Affinois, Cotswald, amazingly sweet cherries, rye flatbread, club crackers. Yum. Also picked up the fixings to make falafel tomorrow, along with some more fruit. We have gotten to the point where having fresh fruit around is an absolute essential, and the Berkeley Bowl makes it a joy to do.
Oh, and my tomatoes! My tomatoes are coming ripe. I'll try to remember to take photos tomorrow.
And now I should go to bed, in case I have to work in the morning. I may or I may not. Go to bed, that is. :-)
