Friday: Worked both jobs. Had remarkably much energy considering it was a fourteen-hour workday.

I have found that I actively like working at Ikea now. If I go to work in a bad mood, I'm usually cheerful by the end. I know part of it is that the fake-cheery thing I put on so easily at work rubs off on my actual mood, but it's also that the job is physically easier now that I'm used to it. I still spend the whole shift on my feet, and run up and down the stairs a lot, but my body has gotten accustomed to it, and my shifts are shorter, so I don't hate it so much. I still resist going to work, but so far, I haven't missed any work and I'm enjoying the job. Plus, my thighs and butt are getting rock-hard. ;-)

Saturday: Ran errands with [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy (oil change, groceries) and worked the busiest day ever at Ikea. Catalog-drop weekend (K-drop for short -- it's when most USians get their Ikea catalog in the mail). An amazing wall of people, and I ended up working 45 minutes longer than scheduled, but it was *fun*.

Sunday: Spent the entire day with a tummyache, but got a lot done. Five loads of laundry, some way-cool book shopping (got a cute zine and used copies of Mary Oliver and Sharon Olds -- not the women, their poetry. Also Amphigorey.), and a shift at work that I was proud to make it through -- only made it by chanting to myself "Don't think about vomiting. Don't think about vomiting."

Was supposed to check in at UC Berkeley this morning (in person) and then go over to [livejournal.com profile] dryadgrl's to swim and plan our way-cool birthday bash, but I'm going to rest instead. Haven't eaten since lunch yesterday and still have no interest in food. Feel a bit better, but still not quite well, so I intend to take the day to rest unless they really need me at UCB (I sent my boss an email to that effect last night). Have off from Ikea tomorrow, so I'm kind of hoping the whole day is mine to squander, as the rest of the week will be busy busy busy.

They need me at UCB, as it turns out, but I turned them down for the first time ever. I hope it goes well, but I also hope they realize that the situation there needs to change. Of course, I hope they will figure out a way to hire me, but that appears to be a pipe dream. (And I hope the woman I replace feels better soon, of course.)

Cool! I've found this works well for me, too. Dale Carnige discusses the phenomenon in one of his books, something like, "Stop worring and start living". I'm not usually much into the "self help" set but he's cool and practical, not silly :) (I still worry all the time, but I definately got some great public speaking tips from him)

*drool* just when I thought you couldn't get any cuter :)
