Spoken-word dealio was excellent. I shall now proceed to burble about it for a while. Feel free to skip this part, but oh, my, I had fun.

A half-dozen or so of us rocked the non-mic. [livejournal.com profile] golden_c_turtle read, as did [livejournal.com profile] dryadgrl and Christopher, the owner of this excellent coffeeshop. (He's really unprepossessing and self-depracating, but I don't think he realizes what a born performer he is.) Did I mention it was excellent? Did I mention how freakin' tired I am?
Normally, I stay late at these things, but I was about to collapse in tiredness. Still, it was great. [livejournal.com profile] stonebender and [livejournal.com profile] loracs were there, and I love seeing them and schmoozing (and making Guy hold my purse.) My partners (and their partners) seemed as charmed by Christopher as I am. We have offered to make him a map of our relationship web, but it could make his head explode.

The pound and a half of toffee I made as enticement is now officially gone. We ate lots and lots of baba ganouj, drank lots of foofy coffee/tea drinks, and had a really good time.

People I haven't heard before did some reading, and those who didn't read (even the strangers) seemed to like it. I had one patron just come up to me to thank me for helping to keep Nomad open late on Thursdays, because he loves to go in, have coffee, and work. I can utterly relate -- a large part of why I'm doing this is because I love Nomad and love having it open in the evening for me me me. If it benefits others, bonus.

Next week, there'll be an African coffee ceremony for the Third-Thursday spoken-word thing -- I can't wait -- and then I'm back with some features and fun. Please come out on Thursdays and support spoken word in the East Bay.

I'm also glad it was a good experience. I do live closer, but I was too pooped to pucker or pout. your efforts are already paying off.
