Used my downtime today to make flyers for the readings. Now I'm gonna go
relax for an hour. It's lunchtime, ferpetesake, and I deserve/need/want
it. Happy Tuesday, everyone.

Four down, ten to go.

[Edit: But doesn't everyone find menu planning to be relaxing?]

I'll be free after next Tuesday and still want to take you out for a birthday lunch or din-din. You name the day and I'll be there!

Happy birthday!

I need to start talking with you about the Joan Baez show again, seeing as that's suddenly gone from months away to (oops) ten days away. If it still works for you (September 30, 8pm, the Rio Theatre (http://www.riotheatre.com/) here in Santa Cruz), what I'm thinking is that I'll pick up tickets when I'm downtown tomorrow and then mail you one. Or you could just order one online yourself if you prefer, but this would avoid the service fees of the online ticket places. I think it would be good for us to each have a ticket onhand so that if I go early and save a good seat we wouldn't get into a "the ticket is inside but you're outside"-type situation. Let me know what you think ...

I also just found out that Joan Baez is doing a free show in Golden Gate Park the very next day, as part of the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. Take a look at the line-up for the two-day festival (http://www.strictlybluegrass.com/2005/artists.shtml) -- I am just amazed at what an unbelievable list of incredible performers they've got for a totally free show!

Eek, where did the time go? I'll be home in a few hours (between jobs) and I'll look at my work schedule then. I know I'm off work on 10/1, but I don't remember what's up on 9/30.

Ohmygod. Emmylou? Jimmie Dale Gilmore? AND Joannie? I think I'm in heaven.

*Oh* yeah, and the list just goes on and on!

So do you know about Friday yet? I'm going downtown again in about an hour, so that would be another chance to pick up a ticket if you like, but if it's still kind of up in the air for you you might want to just wait and then if it does work out for you get one online later as a willcall at the box office.

Joan got a little writeup (http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/archive/2005/September/22/style/stories/03style.htm) in the local paper today.

Yeah, I can't commit to it now. I'm trying to find someone to work for me. Thanks so much, though!

Alas, I totally blew it now anyway -- when I finally went by the box office this afternoon, though it's supposedly open seven days a week there was a sign there saying that it was closed today and that Joan Baez was sold out. I thought, well, there probably still are tickets online -- there certainly were a couple days ago -- but nope, sold out there too. Oh well! At least I saw her there on her previous tour -- I'll just have to be more on the ball next time.
