Stayed up until 3:30 or so last night. After I was done working the pleasant contract job I'm on, I just goofed around for a few hours because I could. I don't do it often, but it was nice. Then this morning I awoke at 9 and thought, "What the hell. I'll stay up, get some stuff done, and go to bed early tonight." So I stayed up, got some stuff done, and I'm going to bed early.

Oh, some of the stuff I got done:

Made a lovely lentil-and-ham soup from the leftover ham, some lentils, a bay leaf, a tiny bit of crushed red pepper, a pinch of fines herbs, and some sherry.

Walked to Ashby BART flea market with [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy. We've decided we want to try to go to every BART station eventually, so we BARTed to North Berkeley and walked from there back home (another 3 miles or so), stopping on the way for shopping and lunch. I got [livejournal.com profile] someotherguy his xmas present, and we bought several books at rock-bottom prices. I got a Lynda Barry book, a book of Neil Gaiman's short stories, a Dorothy Allison, and I can't remember what else. Oh, and a Dar Williams CD at the thrift store for two dollars. The boy got a Capital Steps CD and I don't remember what else. It was cold and sunny out, and the walk was lovely, as was the cheap Chinese food we got at Long Life Vegi.

And now I shall grab a book, go to bed, and dream of what I know not. And then I will wake up and go hang with [livejournal.com profile] stonebender tomorrow. I was gonna do some more work, but I'm wiped, so off I go. It's a good life. Hope your weekend was lovely.

Neil Gaiman's short stories

"Smoke & Mirrors"? *Fabulous* book. I particularly like the story about the cat that keeps the devil at bay...

Just got my hands on his newest, "Anansi Boys", but haven't had time to read it yet.

We've decided we want to try to go to every BART station eventually

A noble goal, and rather more feasible in a single human lifetime than, say, visiting every NYC subway station.
