Hello. I'm Bill Kling, president of American Public Media.
I'm writing to tell you that we have designed a new
Internet-based service for public radio listeners. As a listener of The
Splendid Table®, Marketplace®, and other American Public Media programs, I
urge you to try it.
It's called Gather.com, and it is designed to enable public
radio's listeners to interact with each other. We think it is a
place where you can learn, where you can write about the things you care
about and be heard by the influential public radio audience, and where you
can explore your personal passions and find others like you interested in
what you are interested in.

It's free. It's interesting. And with the power of this
audience it should become the best place to explore your interests and the
most influential place to write about them. And as more of you sign up and
participate, the better it will be. Just as you've
helped build public radio into America's most trusted and most
influential media entity, you can now do the same on Gather.com.

Try it today. You can log on and register for free on Gather.com, or just
explore the site.

This is the next iteration of public media. Just as we worked with you to
build public radio (and now can't imagine being without
it), this should take you well beyond public radio as an addendum to your
everyday life that can't be found anywhere else.
Thanks and best wishes for the New Year.
