gonna do some of the old altfriday5s
Jan. 2nd, 2006 04:14 pmHere are a few of the old
altfriday5s, because I'm in the mood
to do surveys and that was a place to find them.
From the
altfriday5:
1. How good are you at arriving on time? Why or why not?
I'm usually early, unless I'm depending on someone else for
transportation.
2. Does it bother you when other people are late? Why or why not?
It usually does not bother me, because I'm sure to set it up so that their
lateness doesn't inconvenience me. For instance, I don't hold dinner for
people, I don't wait more than 15 minutes if someone's late unless I just
feel like sitting around anyway, and I don't make plans that are
time-dependent with friends I know are habitually late.
3. What's the most that you've ever been late (i.e., in terms of
time)?
No idea. The worst memory of being late, though, is when I was late for
the *eighth* interview for headsets.com, so they didn't give me the job.
(I was late because I got on the wrong bus in the city, and I didn't
realize it until it was too late to make it on time.)
4. What's the most important thing that you've ever been late for?
Can't think of anything.
5. Have you ever been, you know, late? Or, if that's not biologically
possible for you, has anyone you've been involved with been, you know,
late?
Yes, but I didn't turn out to be pregnant, thank goodness.
The Questioner says: Don't forget your links!
This week's questions are in honour of World AIDS Day, which was
yesterday.
From the
altfriday5:
1. Have you ever been tested for the HIV virus? Why or why not?
Yes, for several reasons: 1) got tested after being raped. 2) got tested
again a year later just in case. 3) have gotten tested several times just
because it's a good idea. 4) Went with a friend for her test, and got
tested to show her it's no big deal.
2. What do you do make the sexual interactions you have safer?
I limit the people I share fluids with to people I am willing to die for.
That makes it a very short list. I make agreements with my partners to
tell each other if fluids are swapped outside our circle.
3. Do you know someone personally that is living with AIDS? That has
died of AIDS?
Yes. Yes.
4. Have you ever supported AIDS causes (by wearing a red ribbon,
donating money, volunteering, etc.)? Why or why not?
Yes. Because I went to far too many funerals in the '80s and '90s. None
recently, and I'm thankful for that.
5. How would your life be different if the AIDS epidemic had never
happened? How would the world be different?
My best friend would still be alive. Sex wouldn't feel as scary. I
wouldn't be as conscious about what I do with my genitals. Many many many
many many of the world's children would have been spared being orphaned
and/or killed by this disease. And so on.
The Questioner says: Don't forget your links!
Today it's more like the AltFriday4, because I'm stumped for a fifth
question on this theme, and #4 is an omnibus question, so it conceivably
counts as more than one. Deal.
From the
altfriday5:
1. Do you ever friends-lock your posts? Why or why not?
Yes, though I didn't at first. Then I discovered that my ex didn't like
being talked about in public, so I got more careful about what I left
public, and that led to my making several filters for different subjects
and levels of intimacy.
2. Do you ever make private posts (posts that only you can see)? Why or
why not?
No, I don't, because I nearly never go back and read my LJ, and I don't
use this as a private journal or a chronicle. I think of it as ephemeral,
and if it goes away tomorrow, I'll be sad, but only for a few minutes.
3. Do you ever use friends groups to filter who can read particular
posts? Why or why not?
Yes, see #1.
4. You find out that a good friend has been making posts that are
filtered so that you can't see them. How do you feel (unconcerned,
curious, anxious)? What about if it was someone you were dating? An ex? An
acquaintance?
Mostly unconcerned. If it were a partner of mine, as has happened to me
once, I would feel very curious, but not upset. If it were during a hard
time for us, I think I would probably also feel paranoid about what they
might be saying about me. I have a hard time with feeling left out.
5. Make up a fifth question on this topic and answer it.
Nah.
