*third* one away, as well?

(I hate hazelnut chocolates. I don't mind hazelnuts by themselves, but
with chocolate (e.g., Nutella), I really dislike them.)

Must have been one of those "European" mixes. They are weirdly obsessed with hazelnuts over there. For some reason, they have not gotten the message that the world also contains almonds, peanuts, cashews, pecans, macadamias, or even walnuts (which I'm allergic to, but at least they aren't hazelnuts!).

yeah, that "weird obsession" would be because hazelnuts are native all over europe, and much cheaper to grow than walnuts, *snicker*. and because lots of us weird europeans actually like them, also a reason not be to underestimated.

Heh. Yeah, well, "me mum" also likes hazelnuts a lot, and she surely isn't European! There are many things that I appreciate about Europe and Europeans, but hazelnuts aren't one of them. I'll happily give you all of my hazelnut chocolates if the occasion should ever arise, however. :^)

I am fairly neutral about hazelnuts, as I'm not sure I've ever eaten one of them plain. but I do like Nutella, and even went out of my way to purchase a jar when I was in Germany (1987), only to find out that it was sold here as well. ditto a six-pack of Klaushalster (sp?) alcohol-free beer. man, was that heavy to carry.
