Another survey

sereneToday is housecleaning day, so of course, I'm gonna post at least one survey. This is that year-end thing that often goes around at this time.
1. Will you be looking for a new job in 2010?
I love my job and don't intend to quit it, ever, but I may need a second job if I have to pay COBRA to keep the kid's health insurance.
2. Will you be looking for a new relationship?
Nope. I'm really happy with my partners, and I don't feel like I have the time and energy to do justice to another relationship.
3. New house?
Nope. I like this place.
4. What will you do differently in '10?
I'm not sure. It's not so much that I want to do things differently as that I want the same things I always want that I tend not to make/have enough room for in my life.
5. New Year's resolution?
I don't do resolutions, but some friends are doing the new year's Vegan Kickstart, and I'm gonna do that with them for 3 weeks. No idea if I'll keep doing the vegan thing after that.
6. What will you not be doing in '10?
A lot of things! Bungee jumping, shark-baiting, turning Conservative, kicking puppies, etc...
But the big one is: Parenting a child. My kid turns 18 really really soon.
7. Any trips planned?
At least a couple of trips to San Diego to see my mom, but other than that, just day trips. (Anniversary expotition withstonebender; NOLOSE/NAAFA things in the Bay Area, Alameda County Fair)
8. Wedding plans?
Nope.
9. What's on your calendar?
See #7.
10. What can't you wait for?
The kid to start college and like it.
11. What would you like to see happen differently?
Most of what I'd like is pie in the sky stuff like world peace and an end to disease, poverty, and hatred. Specifically, I would like the universe to stop knocking my friends and relatives over and kicking them when they're down.
12. What about yourself will you be changing?
I don't try to anticipate such changes. I just keep trying to be the best person I can, and as I make that effort, I change as a natural result.
13. What happened in '09 that you didn't think would ever happen?
I went on a drug that I will have to take for the rest of my life, every day.
14. Will you be nicer to the people you care about?
I try to be nice to all sorts of people but sometimes I'm not very good at it. So I hope so.
15. Will you dress differently this year than you did in '09?
Only in the sense that I'll get rid of old clothes and get new ones. Mostly, I dress in whatever my mother buys me, so it's a mixed bag, but she's gotten pretty good at buying me things that really fit my tastes.
16. Will you start or quit drinking?
I don't drink, and don't have any desire to.
17. Will you better your relationship with your family?
I'm pretty content with the quality of most of my family relationships already. I intend to work at maintaining the good quality of those relationships but I don't have a specific goal of bettering them. I do, however, intend to stop associating with a person who has ceased to be family to me, and I hope to do that with as little drama as possible.
18. Will you do charity work?
I'd like to return to my work at the cancer center, but it will depend on my energy levels.
19. Will you go to bars?
Not likely, but you never know.
20. Will you be nice to people you don't know?

21. Do you expect 2010 to be a good year for you?
Yes. Most years are good years for me, even if they are difficult. These past three years have been extraordinarily difficult/bad for me and my family, in many ways, but somehow, I have an overall positive feeling about them. I may not be hooked up right.
22. How much did you change from this time last year till now?
I don't know. I feel much the same.
23. Do you plan on having a child?
Nope.Then again, I didn't plan on having this one.

25. What are three exciting, life-affirming things that you expect to happen this year?
A friend will have her baby; a friend/neighbor will get handfasted; my kid will start college.

27. What will you make sure doesn't happen in '10 that happened this year?
I will not bounce a single check. Those days are over.
28. What are your New Years Eve plans?
We don't really do holidays, so I don't have any plans.
29. Will you have someone to kiss at midnight?
Probably, unless he's at his wife's.
