[livejournal.com profile] berkeleyfarm, your dip request disappeared. Here is what my answer was gonna be:

Unbelievably simple, but when our friend in San Diego served it, no one would believe that all that was in it was a 50/50 blend of sour cream and cream cheese, and a bunch of chopped shallots. SO SO delicious.

I also really love a basic spinach dip (get the recipe off the back of a Mrs. Grass or Knorr veggie soup mix packet) with the addition of a few chopped scallions and a can of water chestnuts, minced finely.

The first dip sounds like one I used to make with the addition of fresh dill. Which, now that I think of it, sounds like a simplified tzatziki.

I find that for all the dip recipes I've tried, my favourite just involves a 500ml container of sour cream, a package of Knorr leek soup mix, a tiny-to-small amount of soya sauce (to taste) and chilling it in the fridge for a few hours.

Yumma.

I also like a vegan dip I make out of commercial vegan "sour cream", powdered vegan "beef broth", and dried minced onions. Tastes like French onion dip, but the vegans have trouble believing they can eat it.

I may have to try that sometime. :) Which sour cream do you use -- tofutti?
