Diamonds or pearls? Neither. I'm not kidding. Give me either, and I will
think you don't understand me, or know me very well, and why would someone
who doesn't know me well be giving me expensive jewelry?

What are your favorite TV shows? The West Wing, The L Word, Lost

What did you have for breakfast this morning? Malt-o-Meal Crunchberry
cereal with soymilk.

What's your favorite cuisine? Probably Thai food

What foods do you dislike? smoked things, lima beans, Veg-all, brussels
sprouts, cinnamon, cumin (All of these should be appended "Except in very
specific cases" -- for example, I'm fine with cinnamon in apple pie, but
only in apple pie.)

What is your favorite chip flavor? Jalapeno (no cheddar)

What's your favorite CD at the moment? August and Everything After has
been my favorite for a few years. I get like that sometimes. Before
that, I think it was Clouds.

What kind of car do you drive? Sometimes I borrow dbubley's
Mercury.

Favorite sandwich? Tomato and mayo on soft wheat bread.

What characteristics do you despise? Cruelty

What is your favorite type of clothing? My tastes are too varied to answer
this question

If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you go? I
would choose a week in my house with no visitors and plenty of money to
eat out or call for delivery.

What color is your bathroom? Heh. Good question. The new floor is going
in as we speak, and I don't know what color it will be.

Favorite brand of clothing? Don't have one. Sometimes I get disgusted and
make my own.

Where would you retire to? I plan to live in Oakland/Berkeley forever,
unless something better comes up.

Favorite time of the day? Depends on my mood.

What was your most memorable birthday? 36th. Womboink in San Diego. I was
a big wimpyface when I got stung by a stingray; I had my first-ever
surprise party; my partner liked some of my friends (and touched one of
their boobs); I got to spend quality time with futabachan; I ate
mountains of cassidyrose's kiwi salsa; and so on.

Where were you born? Connecticut

Favorite sport to watch? Baseball

What laundry detergent do you use? Fragrance-free liquid, whatever brand
is handy

Were you named after anyone? My aunt (who is also my mom's best friend)
and my mom

Do you wish on stars? Nope.

Do you like your handwriting? Sometimes.

If you were another person, would YOU be friends with you? Yes, I would be
the perfect friend for me. Low-pressure, cheerful, always happy to see my
friends, even if I'm low-energy.

Are you a daredevil? Depends on the situation.

Do looks matter? In a very narrow and unimportant area of my life
(physical attraction towards strangers), it matters. But since physical
attraction to strangers doesn't matter to me, that would be a no, I guess.

How do you release anger? I talk it out. I cry. I get love and sympathy
from my partners and/or my mom.

What were your favorite toys as a child? Mrs. Beasley, Ursula (the doll
whose facial expressions changed with a turn of a dial), my Shape-O ball

What class in high school was totally useless? None! I found usefulness in
them all, even geography, which I hated, but which taught me the first few
letters of the Greek alphabet (our teacher was Greek, and he named the
rows Alpha, Beta, Gamma...)

Favorite movies? Bull Durham, All the President's Men, Fried Green
Tomatoes, Osama, Dogma.

What is your least favorite thing about yourself? I am socially awkward,
and when I get nervous, I can't stop interrupting people.

What color pants are you wearing? No pants. Black skirt.

Summer or winter? Winter, except for the electric bill.

without the other, even if it's a kiss on the cheek as I hug a friend.

What is Your Favorite Dessert? I'm not that big on dessert, but I guess
pie or ice cream.

What Book(s) are you reading? Red Mars, Fat!So?, and
probably something else.

What is on your mouse pad? Black and gray geometric shapes.

What Did You Watch Last night on TV? Half of "Madagascar" (I fell asleep)
and the Animaniacs Christmas special on VHS

Favorite Smells? Vanilla, baking bread

Rolling Stones or Beatles? Beatles, mostly, but depends on my mood

What's the furthest you've been from home? Well, I was in Spain, but that
was home at the time. So maybe New York or Hawaii, when I lived in San
Diego.

Do you have plans this weekend? Saturday, I will be making toffee for the
Chocolate
Tasting. Sunday, if I have a shred of energy, I'm gonna go volunteer
at the Chocolate Tasting. Monday, I have a date with stonebender.

I love pearls. Diamonds I could do without, but I'm very fond of freshwater pearls in particular. Just wish they didn't have to do in the oysters for them.

That said, I'm really not much of a jewelry person anyway.

I'd rather have swarovski crystals than diamonds, and i like pearls, but if you give me something with either one, I will take it apart for the next time i want to play with beads.

I agree about diamonds and perals too. I actually quite like perls, but would not wear them. There is a great lines about that in Brecht's "Galileo" where Galileo talks about how he would rather have a healthy oyster than a pearl causing the oyster agony. I would rather get a cheap fake set and spend the money on something satisfying, like groceries.
