[livejournal.com profile] cassidyrose barely squeaked by my moviephile boyfriend by betting on penguins and pimps.

My friends and co-workers are such interesting and accomplished people.

I will stop dissing Jon Stewart now.

Five and a half hours of sleep may be enough for normal humans, but not for me.

Rain is grandtaculariffic!

If I were to start a woodpulp 'zine that focused on [edit: "focused" isn't the right word -- um, that covered] all my pet hobbyhorses -- human rights, size acceptance, progressive politics, hippychickhood, sustainable agriculture, ecology, sex, gender, simplicity, atheism/agnosticism, food porn, etc. -- who would wanna contribute? There would be pay involved, because I don't believe in writing for publication for free (and by extension, I don't believe in asking people to write for publication for free), but it would likely be small pay to start with, or a pinko-communist-cooperative share of proceeds, or perhaps something I haven't thought of yet. Anyone wanna be kept up to date on this? If so, please comment here, or send me your contact info via email: serene@serenepages.org

If it's possible, I fell more in love with [livejournal.com profile] loracs and [livejournal.com profile] wild_irises last night. (Yes, I am using "in love" to refer to my friends -- I think you know what I mean, right?) At any rate, I was not at my best around either of them last night, and they nurtured and cared for me, and I felt so very lucky.

I might want to contribute, but "focused on" seems like the wrong label for such a broad net of topics.

I love Jon Stewart. One of my favorite Daily Show moments was when he was interviewing Bill O'Reilly and he (Stewart) looked at him (O'Reilly) and asked, "Why so angry?" I swear, I thought smoke was going to come out of O'Reilly's ears. Then there was the time Bishop Tutu was on and Stewart made him dissolve into a fit of giggles.

Thanks for a great party!

I'm torn between, "You weren't at your best?" and "You don't have to be at your best!" You were Serene, and that's all I ever want to expect from you.

I'm interested in knowing about how the zine idea progresses and in anything you might have for me to do to help out, but I don't know that I have much in me in terms of intelligent or useful writing on those topics.

May I have a clue, please?

You weren't at your best last night? You were (and always are) the best serene I know. The fact that I only know one serene does not diminish the fact that you are "the best".

As [livejournal.com profile] wild_irises said so well "you don't have to be at your best". From my pov, if you have to always be at YOUR best then I have to try to always be at MY best and then any friendship we have takes on a "play acting" patina. I much prefer friendships encompassing the shiny bits, rusted bits, patched bits and maybe even a few holes we all have. I'll show you my "bits" if you'll show me yours! (okay, I didn't get very much sleep last night either, so please forgive the silliness.)

RE: the zine. Keep me posted because in greater and lesser degrees all those things are on my list of important stuff too.

Thank you, sweetie. I felt like I was brusque with you, and I wasn't intending to be.

Um. I'm interested in said 'zine, but I'm not sure I would have the time/activation energy. But the /thought/ interests me, at least!

I would be proud to contribute to the 'zine but I carry the baggage of my dual existence (president-elect of a very, very corporate agricultural industry association)with me.

Wall Street Journal by day, http://www.backwoodshome.com/ by night.

I am the freakin' Batman.
