Because I feel peace and joy descend on me when my environment gets less cluttered and cleaner, it always surprises me that I'm not better about keeping it this way.

Working hard all day, but simultaneously getting happier and happier. I love my little place, especially when I can see the flat surfaces.

I love my house in order but for the life of me I can't get it or keep it that way. My sister has that talent I do not*pout*

I'm not kidding when I say that FlyLady (http://www.flylady.net) (as syrupy-sweet-ick as it can be) is the only thing that's managed to work for me in the long term.

I took a look at the sight went to put it on my favorite list and my computer said it was already there. You must have told me about it before and I just zoned out on that fact DUH! At this point I will try anything getting so disgusted with my place. Thanks for the info.

My house is in *such* chaos right now. No living room ceiling, a couple of walls missing drywall. Carpet being repaired. Most of the living room furniture and the bookshelves and books shoved into the kitchen and hallway.

*sigh*

I look forward with great anticipation to when this is all repaired and back to normal.

In the meantime, I breathe and chant and find my Zen Happy Place. And cook comfort food.

*pat, pat* I hate it when I am *prevented* from tidying, even more than I hate it when it just clutters up.

I'm in tidy mode today, too. I have about 50% more floor than I realized.

I'm kinda-sorta the same way, and what's really frustrating for me is when it turns out that I was about 25 minutes away from significantly higher levels of cleanliness, yet I put off the cleaning for days (or weeks!) because I "didn't have time".

Tonight I'm going to try to start again on my goal of "get the kitchen ready for work before getting ready for bed", (so when I wake up, I can make breakfast and/or lunch quickly). There's nothing more frustrating than having to clean before making tea or food.

(Typo: I originally said "having to clean before making teat". I don't even want to try to think about how to make that into a sensible sentence!)

Yeah for seeing Flat Surfaces!

One of the many perks of having people over, is getting the house in order. I really enjoy the social part and the food prep part, but I equally enjoy having the deadline to clean up.

Although I realize, as I age, my definition of in order has changed. "In order" use to include dusting everything, cleaning behind/underneath the furniture, getting all clothes in the closet and not just hung on the back of the closet and bathroom door and making everything "pretty". Once I was outside planting flowers along side our walkway at 2 am before we had company around noon. Now, I just want the basics - floors, carpets, kitchen, bathroom and most clutter removed from the socializing space.

I'd like things to be uncluttered and clean, but it doesn't surprise me that I'm not better at getting them that way.

Hear, hear. Am with you on all that.

La CoHabitante did her part yesterday, giving the bathroom and kitchn a polish and shine. I did a part of my part, sending more Stuff Not In Use off to FreeCycle, and thus, clearing cupboard and locker space for new stuff that needs to be put away. Still to need to vacuum and dust the main rooms and my bedroom. Which is on the list for today.

The work area, alas, is not there yet. After re-arranging it post painting a few weeks ago, I'm still working through a mix of personal and co-op papers, on the principle of once it's touched, it must be dealt with (Organizing from the Inside Out). Half the desk has been cleared.

The Co-op board meeting is tonight. That's my deadline. :)
