1) Today is my last day on LiveJournal. Dreamwidth is my journalling home now.

2) piranha has some great ideas for finding your LJ friends on DW. My reading list is already much more robust because of it

3) My answer to being asked why I moved here:

I don't really feel like maintaining two journals. One's enough for me, even though I'm poly. ;-) And Dreamwidth is Just. So. Nifty.

Some reasons I think so:

Plus, the development team is predominantly female and geeky and community-minded, which I like, and it already feels more amenable to my way of doing things than LJ does. No bans on breastfeeding pics! Non-defensive, responsive staff! Fluffy bunnies!

Yep, those are all the reasons I like it over here.

I'm going to be a bit slower to withdraw from LJ, I think, but I'm going to stop allowing comments in crossposted entries. It's probably irrational, but it peeves me when people who have accounts here respond there.

I'm posting both places and responding both places.... (and getting a bit schizo, I think) but I was responding to crossposted stuff over there, just because I was reading lj first, and dw after that. I've now rearranged by reading list, so dw comes up first, as it should;)

I think I'll keep both, but use them for different purposes. DW is (so far) more private, for me, with only my older (both senses) friends - mostly from usenet - having access. On LJ I've got all kinds of local people and young college age people, so that will get a different flavor of posts from me, in the long run.

That, and 372 'friends' on fb, plus twitter, plus usenet, plus some family/ancestry yahoo groups....
Perhaps I'll be needing a no-net vacation fairly soon.

Anyway, Serene, you posting just here fits perfectly with the way my brain is sorting out the two places. Thanks for being so helpful;)

:-) Contrariwise, I think my DW is going to be entirely public, whereas I used filters on LJ a lot. Not sure why, but I think I have a more bloggy feel about the DW thing.
