Open letter to all vaginapagina posters: If it itches and it's not supposed to -- go to the doctor! If it hurts and it's not supposed to -- go to the doctor! Yeesh.
LOL that could be written directly at me right now. I've been putting off calling about what I swear is the worlds yukkiest yeast infection. I'm fairly certain that's what it is (I've had them diagnosed before), but everything feels so chaffed and inflammed and raw and just OUCH. I think it's a combination of yeast infection, wearing underwear washed in stuff i'm allergic to, and having to use the bathroom every five minutes and all they have is that sandpaper for toilet paper. It's slowly getting better, but GOD I'm MISERABLE. Oh, and it feels like I'm sitting on a cactus or something all day. YUK!
I've figured that if it didnt substantially subside by wednesday I'd call the dr for an appt. And, well, that's tomorrow, so yeah, I guess I'm calling. So I've been kicking my own ass about it. Besides, I need to call him anyway. This not having my period for the last 6-8 weeks (I forget exactly when I had the last one, it's at least 6, probably 8, and maybe more) isn't exactly.... good.
Oh, and yes, i've got BC -- the Mirena IUD. and it does say that if I don't have a period for six weeks to call the dr. And the cessation of periods (amennoryah? I can't spell it, and I'm not certain that's the right word, but it means "doesnt get a period") is a potential effect, which is OK with me.
Yeah, Caleb, this. Also, if you shaved recently, expect itching. If you've got a new soap and it starts itching, stop using the soap and don't call your doctor unless it doesn't stop itching. Stuff like that.
Sometimes, women in that community will post long "What should I *doooooo*?" posts about how their vulva (usually referred to as "down there") has been itchy for two weeks (or even the better part of a year), or how they think they might have an STD, what should they do? Um, if you think you might have an STD, go get checked for an STD.
(Most of the posts are not like this. Just enough to make me growl a little.)
