It's interesting to me how much can go on in life during a period of unemployment. I was a bit nervous about being unemployed (I use the term loosely; I've been doing some contract work), but today, I got my unemployment insurance notice, and they're going to give me enough that I can feed and house myself while I look for work. (In fact, since the award is based on a year that included several months of working sixty hours a week, I'll be taking home about what I was taking home working at The World's Best Temp Job. I will, of course, declare all my contract income, but the exciting part is that I get to relax a little while I hunt for work, which is an odious-but-necessary task at this point.)

Had a lovely, impromptu visit with [livejournal.com profile] dryadgrl today, in which she seemed very peaceful and happy. I laughed a lot, and got a chance to feel all joyful about how she's found herself someone perfect for her. This is a feeling I know well, and I want it for everyone who wants it, y'know?

[livejournal.com profile] sogwife made us a new curtain for our front door! (There are pics at the link of the new curtain and the old shade in the trash. :-)

Have been spending a lot of time cooking and cleaning house, and I'm grooving on it. Having drop-in guests, which I love, is even more fun when I don't feel nervous about the state of the house. Not only that, but I just feel more peaceful when my environment is clean, if not completely decluttered. (Please note: I'm not making a statement about your house. If I've been in your house, and it's messy, I'm not sitting in judgment. If I like you, I don't give a shit how your house looks. I may not want to *live* there, but I can say that about every place that's not my beloved Hobbit Hole.) My house will never be spotless, I'm convinced of it, but it doesn't need to be to make me happy. And I'm just SO happy here.

My dear friend [livejournal.com profile] revcarol has been making me smile the last couple of weeks. She is good for me. She is comfy and kind and funny, and she is one of those people I admire, who looks for ways to cope with hard times, rather than looking for reasons to whine. I can say that of the vast majority of my friends, come to think of it, and I don't think that's any accident.

[livejournal.com profile] stonebender and [livejournal.com profile] loracs honked as they passed us on the road today. Again and again I shall say it -- I fucking LOVE having neighbors!

Bon chase!

Relaxing whilst hunting for work ... never managed that :-( It's a confidence thing... self, in my case, I suppose (which will shock a lot of people who only know my outside self).

Thank you so much for your kind words. You're very good for me, too. My self-esteem has risen so much due to your constant and loving support.

Maybe we should form an official mutual admiration society. ;o)
