how many people are mad at the *store* for kicking you out for stealing.

I wouldn't want to guess about the hundreds of people on my friendslist, but I'd say most of the people I'm close to would not think nothing of stealing. We pay for our software and music downloads, and declare our income around here.

(Actually, this is hitting a nerve, because I have a relative who does things like working under the table and taking small things from businesses if it seems they won't miss it, and I have a problem with that, and it's hard for me to get close to someone who operates that way.)

I bought a magazine a while ago because a photographer who took some photos of me wanted to know if it was okay for him to submit them to the magazine for publication and I wanted to check it out (plus it looked like it might be neat when I went to their site). It was overall a pretty neat magazine, but it featured an extensive article about shoplifting clothing that cast it as a cool, politically-astutue, you-go-grrl radical thing to do. It really bothered me a lot. I never did write to them. I really should have. (I didn't feel able to at the time for a variety of reasons that would be a separate discussion entirely.)
