Behind the cut, more garden pictures. This time, I took some photos of other people's plots and some of the common area. I think the whole thing is looking so pretty right now. Next, I should make myself a gardening icon. Maybe Mr. Froggy wouldn't mind.

Apple! Apple!

Thanks, pleonastic, for the photography trick.
Our apple tree Our apple tree

I think it looks really good and healthy, but I'll prune it if I should.
box box

Took this photo from within my neighbor's area. I decided not to do the work of building my own tomato-climbing frame this go-round, and bought cheap cages instead.
The community garden The community garden

A view from beside my plot toward the tennis court behind the garden. I love how the place looks right now, with so much growing.
The community area The community area

People leave stuff in the basket, I assume for others to share. There's a picnic table, a couple of community wheelbarrows, and some compost bins. One is empty, and I may put it into use.

The mailbox The mailbox

This is where garden members leave notes for one another. Isn't it just the quaintest thing ever?
Sprout! Sprout!

Yay, sprout!

oh yeah, SPROUT! i always get so excited when my seeds sprout. heck, i even get excited when stuff sprouts that i didn't sow. always hoping for self-seeding, actually. which my sea holly has, and this time i know the sprouts for what they are.

Ooh, excellent! We have a gorgeous volunteer sweet pea outside our front door. Let me see if I have a picture:

pretty! are you sure that's a sweet pea? it looks more like a beach pea (lathyrus japonicus) to me with those very robust stems and those particular colour gradations. they grow wild everywhere here.

Oh, no, I was just guessing. Google says you're probably right. Normal habitat is sandy shores, which is funny, since right now it's living in some desert-plants' pots.

Those cheap tomato cages? Will last forever. Mine came with the house, showed obvious signs of age, and are on their fifth summer holding up my tomatoes.

Yeah. They're not exactly what I was planning on (the book I'm using as a guide has some cool frames you have to build, and I like the way they look), but it's perfect for the purpose, without a big outlay of money or effort. And I have two more for when I've got *eight* climbing plants next time. :-)

Yep, those sort-of-conical cages do the job really well, and I'm glad to hear they last forever (I think we've had ours for about 5 years, which might mean 10). We need to get some more of them, and retire the oh-so-flexible three-panel thingies we got before them, which are a major pain to install effectively.

Oh, those called to me in the garden store, and I resisted. Glad I did.
