For those of you who know her, you'll be able to picture her jokey-laughy-tough-guy act today. She's tired, but she's feeling pretty good, and she's ready to leave the hospital tomorrow, and return to work on Monday (she has the doc's permission). [Edit: In case it's not clear, she got a pacemaker. It took them half an hour, under local anesthetic, to do it. I am continually amazed by modern medicine.]
She's a kick in the head, my mom is.
I'm very very very relieved, and so worn out emotionally that I can't express it, but I'm not unhappy. I also bought cute things for
baby_fly, so that's a fun way to end the day.

Date: 2006-07-16 06:53 am (UTC)Having a pacemaker is apparently a really small deal, medically, these days. I'm very relieved that it seems to be all she'll need, and that there will apparently be nothing to worry about in the future, heart-wise.

Date: 2006-07-16 07:10 am (UTC)(And yeah, Munchkin The Younger had heart surgery at 10 days old, and after going off meds at 2 or 3 years old, has been trouble-free ever since. The real "miracles" in life are things we humans have come up with, I think. Heart surgery -- I mean, who could have been the first person to think it could be a GOOD thing to cut into someone's chest to make them better? Talk about non-intuitive!)

Date: 2006-07-16 02:05 pm (UTC)Modern medicine *is* amazing. IT's pretty cool that a pacemaker operation which took 12 hours and full open heart surgery on my dad 7 years ago, is a little half-hour deal.
I'm glad the research they did on him is paying off :)
that's cool!
