...but when the woman at work whipped out the holy water and blessed my
forehead to protect me on my travels, I just said thank you. It was a
sweet gesture. And then I immediately wrote to my mom to let her know,
because it will make her feel less worry, and why not?

Well, atheists ARE god-hating crankypants. :^) But I'm glad that some atheists (like you) are ALSO polite and generous towards those of other faiths (well, ANY faith). :^)

Silly woman. I don't hate god any more than I hate santa claus. They're both imaginary. :-)

But, why? Is it a sense of competition with him for Chango's attention? ;)

Live with [livejournal.com profile] loracs for a few months in the fall and winter, and you, too, will grow to hate Santa Claus. :-)

That is sweet! It reminds me of when a poor friend of mine discovered I didn't have a bible in my house. Soon after he brought one to me. I don't know where he got it is was used it had been highlighted in places. But it was one of those old well made ones with the nice parchment paper etc. I still bring it out on occasion if for nothing else than to see it's beauty feel the quality of it and remember a dear friend.

yeah, that's sweet of her, and sweet of you to let her, which makes both her and your mom feel better.

i am always oddly pleased when i am able to give money to people who ask me on the street and they say "god bless you".
