The day in food
Sep. 17th, 2006 08:45 pmNot much got done today besides cooking, cleaning, and schmoozing with my nibling. I call today a success.
Made a two-pound loaf each of white and 100% whole-wheat bread. Nothing like hot, fresh bread. For lunch, we had white bread and butter with a spicy fish soup I made of veggies (rainbow carrots, onions, garlic, butternut squash, tomatoes, peas, parsley) and tilapia. Very good. For dinner, we had spaghetti (with mediocre, store-bought sauce, alas) alongside pan-roasted asparagus with lemon butter. Then a taste of the wheat bread for quality-control purposes (it's pretty good, and will probably go into the freezer to serve as our breakfast toast), and then small bowls of Haagen-Dazs for dessert. Not half bad.
