Most of you know I'm generally a Ted Rall fan.

Today, his column made me sick.

Among other things, there's this quote:

We do know, however, that enforced nudity and other gayer-than-gay torture tactics have become de rigueur at other outposts of Bush's post-9/11 gulag archipelago, including Guantánamo Bay, Afghanistan's Bagram concentration camp and the secret CIA prisons in Central and South Asia and Eastern Europe.

"gayer-than-gay torture tactics"???? What kind of sick descriptor is that?

Time to go write a letter letting Mr. Rall know that it's despicable to equate flashlight rape of prisoners with homosexuality.

He is trying to be flip, but gads... it's like he's saying "the torture stuff, hey, anyone can blow that off... but guys doing stuff to other guys? Ewwww, gross!"

THat is fucking sick. In fact I skimmed and didn't read the whole thing because it made me feel ill. Has he never heard of this little tiny thing called "consent"? Ugh. Way to further the right wing concept of rape = homosexuality = rape.

The thing that view of rape is that it often seems to be based on the notion that it's the ickiness of sex, not the lack of consent. That's why people thought a wife couldn't be raped by her husband ("she must be used to sex with her husband by now, so what's the big deal?"), and other such crap.
