Let's just get it all out of the way, shall we?

1) Polyamory is better and purer than monogamy.
2) Deep down, everyone's really bisexual.
3) Meat is murder.
4) Jesus is the One True Way(tm); after all, it says so right here, in English, in my Bible.
5) Liberals just want to tax and spend, and they don't care if terrorists kill us all dead!

Please, Universe, save me from fundamentalists of any stripe, wouldja?

2a. Deep down, everyone's really bisexual.
2b. Deep down, every bisexual is really just too chicken to give up het privilege.

6. Of course you have penis envy/an Oedipus complex/an Electra complex. You're just repressing it, which proves that it's really bad.

Sure it is. And some meat really is murder, and some polyamory is better than monogamy for the people involved. I'm personally infuriated by the straight couples who figure that an FMF threesome cannot possibly entail any emotional consequences, because *of course* the girls are just there to turn the guy on more, and that any lesbian or bisexual woman would be thrilled to hop in bed with them. I have spoken passionately and in public about the attitude that same sex-relationships (especially lesbian ones) don't count -- hell, take a look at my LJ.

But I am also bisexual, and so is my female lover. She is married, but neither she nor I considers our relationship some kind of fantasy icing on the cake of relationships with people whose penises are original equipment instead of aftermarket. The reason I don't just go over to the Dyke Side, much as I love and need women, much as I value female culture, much as my life is really built around women -- is that I also love a man. And I refuse to pretend that I don't, any more than I will refuse to pretend that I don't love a woman.

I will not deny my own reality. And that reality is bisexual.

you probably need vitamin B-12 to not get sick, genius.

My friend probably won't be happy that I said this, but I said it anyway, because people are very misinformed.

I was a vegetarian for 4.5 years, and sick for 4 years. I worked with Yale Medical staff for four years on the issue. I had vitamin B12 shots, I had barium xrays, I had tissue samples taken, I had my blood monitored, I had glucose tests, and more.

It wasn't B12.

And until you know the whole situation and have read my medical file, I'd appreciate you keeping your sarcasm, *and* your uninformed opinions to yourself.

1) Polyamory is better and purer than monogamy.
Some people can handle it, some can't. If you want pure, stick to celibacy.

2) Deep down, everyone's really bisexual.
I don't know. We're physically capable of having sex in a varuety of ways with any gender. When and how do we develop preferences? Deep down, rub me the right way and I suppose I'll enjoy it, at least until I open my eyes, or ears, etc. & become aware of who's doing the rubbing.

3) Meat is murder.
Yes. And one should eat what you kill. Should you also be the one to kill what you eat?

4) Jesus is the One True Way(tm); after all, it says so right here, in English, in my Bible.
Not true for me. I envision Jesus as a cute little gay boy who serves, by choice, as houseboy to the goddess(es.)He is the one true way to get your house and/or your feet divinely clean.

5) Liberals just want to tax and spend, and they don't care if terrorists kill us all dead!
Not true. Liberals care if terrorists kill us all dead! They just don'y care if terrorists stop the flow of oil and kill our economy, forcibg us to all ride bicycles and use manual wheelchairs (those damn liberals)!

Um.

I was poly and happy for six years. I was monogamous and happy before that. I'm monogmaous and happy now.

It's not an inability to "handle it" in either case. It's a choice of a type of relationship(s) that I choose to have.

I'm monogamous in the middle of a poly relationship. My gf has a bf who has a gf. I have a gf, one, and I'm not really looking for more.
A) I HATE scheduling. I could NEVER be the swing person.
B) I have topped the introvert scale on a few psych tests. Although I am a well-compensated introvert there is only so much energy I can devote to being with people. I NEED lots of alone time.

My situation is probably what works best for me. Being half of a monogamous relationship would probably be too much. Being poly myself would probably drive me crazy. Alone might work for a while, but I would get lonely. I'm not lonely, nor am I overwhelmed or going crazy. This I can handle.

OT but I too am monogamous for the same reason. That is, I am monogamous when I have relationships at all. I have to really connect with a person on many levels before I am willing to be their girlfriend, and sometimes even that one person exhausts me. :)

6) All women are inherently compassionate and nurturing.
6b) Women's intuition is always right.

7) Science and Western medicine are not to be trusted because they were invented by men.
7b) All herbs are better than prescription drugs because they're natural. (Just ignore those poisonous plants!)

(FWIW, I AM a feminist, no doubt about it. I only take issue with gender essentialism. Regarding science and medicine, I am alarmed when people take herbal remedies without realizing that herbs, just like prescription drugs, can have side effects and interact with other medications.)

I think I love you. And I think I love Serene too!

An excellent list, and my own would be:

All pagans are full of peace and love and white light and are better than christians or agnostics or atheists. Ummm... we're just as human as the next folks.

All goddesses are about love and life and pretty shiny gentle things... for folks who work with goddesses, it's just not that simple. There is no automatic sweetness or limitation on divinity read as feminine.

Well, according to some of my fellow atheists, we possess an intellect that is far superior to those silly theists who believe in the Tooth Fairy. ;) In reality, of course, I know many religious folks who are intelligent and have given their faith a lot of thought.

Excellent additions!

How about "Anything with chemicals is bad. Anything natural is good"? Which ignores the inconvenient fact that chemicals exist in nature. And that arsenic, for example, is a natural substance. It's even an element.

Gender feminism makes my dick itch. Which is a real pain, since I keep my dicks in a box under the bed, and it's hard to scratch them when I'm miles away.

Does this mean you won't like me any more?
