I've never made any secret of my mixed feelings about guns. I'm afraid of them. I think they're dangerous. I wish they didn't exist. And yet I've always stood up for the 2nd amendment because I don't want the government to be the only ones with the guns.

I may learn again to shoot a gun.

Why?

Because I may need to be part of a well-regulated militia, sooner than later.

This country's current path scares the shit out of me.

I agree with your assessment. Good luck; if you need geekery and/or assistance, I don't know what I can do for you, but I'll do what I can.

best,

Joel

If you're scared of something, all the more reason to face it head on and learn what's involved with doing/handling/using. Learning the unknown removes the fear factor, and allows you to be objective.

And I say that as a formercanuckmilitaryreserve_now_community_activist. I really don't care if I _never_ use a gun ever again. However, I do know how to operate them, effectively, accurately and safely, all the way from revolvers up to machine guns.

As to the leetle problem you're having with your federal leadership; being active counts. If things turn nasty, it's hard to stamp out an active peaceful civilian resistance. Witness Gandi, witness India, witness the South African struggle, witness the active civil resistances to attempts at power grabs in the Ukraine and other former soviet republics. It's all about getting the numbers active and out in the streets.

Is there any hope of sounding a wake-up call to ... well, at least residents of the USA ... in this November's elections?

I come from a gun family, but I've never gotten involved. I'd seriously love to learn.

I never wanted to be the cowboy. I always wanted to be the Indian, at least until I found out that Amazons use bows and arrows.

Thanks for the idea. I've now begun chekcign out shooting ranges here in NYC.

Also, my gym membership is up in January. I think I'll switch to Krav Maga then. Hand to hand is good to know as well.

Scuse me being foreign and dense, but what good will being in a militia do? Compared to other weapon-free options?
