I don't care. First name is fine, Ms. Vannoy is fine, "Ma'am" is fine, whatever.

2. How many careers have you had?

Two, I guess.

3. How many jobs? How many employers?

Hundreds of jobs, hundreds of employers.

4. What was the best employer you worked for?

Hmmm. I would say UC Berkeley, but the shipyard was as good a job, and I got health benefits.

5. What was your favorite job?

A tie between the ones in #4.

6. How many companies, businesses or incorporated organizations have you founded?

Two. My catering business tanked because I *sucked* at it. My copyediting service is doing just fine.

7. Did you grow up to be what you wanted to be when you were 5? When you were 10? When you were 15? When you were 20?

Nope.

8. Have you published any books or academic papers? How many?

No. A few poems, several journalistic articles, but no books or academic papers.

9. Do you hold any patents? How many?

No.

I have my lifeguard certification; does that count?

Nope, but I was in the JROTC in high school.

A handful.

14. How many times have you been married?

Depends on how you count. According to the government, though, I've been a legally registered domestic partner once, and married zero times. I, of course, disagree.

None of either.

16. Whom do you observe Thanksgiving with?

someotherguy and sogwife. In recent years, we've done an Orphans' Thanksgiving for our friends, but this year probably not.

17. How many parents have you had?

Three. Two parents and a stepmom.

18. How many of your parents are still alive? How close are/were you to them?

They're all alive. I get along well with all of them, but for various reasons, we're not exceptionally close. I'm very good friends with my mom, but we don't talk about stuff that matters to us because we disagree strongly about stuff.

19. What's one way you were surprised to find out you turned out like one of your parents?

I like working, like my mom does. I never thought that would be true. I was an extremely lazy child.

20. What's one way you expected to turn out like your parent(s) and were surprised not to?

I honestly never expected to be like my parents.

21. Do you own or rent your home? If the former, how many years on your mortgage, if any?

We rent, and probably will for the foreseeable future.

I haven't had roommates that weren't family since, um, 1996?

No.

No.

I am a registered Green, and have been since it was possible to be so. I helped get the party on the ballot in California.

26. What's the nicest restaurant you've been to in the past year?

Probably my first furniture purchase, my old writing desk. (It's gone now.)

I don't fly enough to pay attention to frequent-flyer miles, but I generally fly Southwest because it's cheapest.

I'm not that into traveling. I go where the people I want to see are.

Why only women? Usually skirts.

32. Men: Do you currently have facial hair?

Why only men? Yes.

I have white hairs, and I like them. (So no, I don't try to hide them.)
