1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Went to Tokyo. Learned to knit. Baked really good bread.

2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't tend to do resolutions.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
A couple of my friends did.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

5. What countries did you visit?
Japan.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
A reliable cushion in the bank balance.

7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
The day after Thanksgiving, when I went back to being a vegan.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting my contract work to the point where it will pay my bills.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not managing to figure out a better solution to our living situation (no, I don't want to talk about it here, but if we're friends, I don't mind doing so in email.)

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Yeah, but nothing too huge. I got stitches in my hand and spent a fair amount of time with one ailment or another, but I'm up and around and happy, so nothing major.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Hmmmm. Don't know. I've gotten a lot of joy out of the yarn I got with the gift certificate [livejournal.com profile] sogwife bought me; does that count?

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
The United States electorate. Richard Dawkins. [livejournal.com profile] hobbitbabe. [livejournal.com profile] sebab. [livejournal.com profile] jodawi. [livejournal.com profile] firecat and her OH. Lots of others -- far more than I could remember or tell.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
I'd rather not say.

14. Where did most of your money go?
To paying the bills and buying food.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Knitting! Breadmaking! Punk rock chickpea gravy! :-)

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
My life doesn't tend to have a soundtrack.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Probably sadder, but things are looking up.
ii. thinner or fatter? Probably fatter. I wonder if any of you don't know me well enough to know how little this matters.
iii. richer or poorer? Probably about the same.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
I'm pretty happy with what I did and didn't do. I did the best I could with the time and energy I was alloted.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
See #18.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
The 23rd at [livejournal.com profile] stonebender's place. Christmas Eve at [livejournal.com profile] sogwife's family thing. Christmas Day at some friends' house, then craft night at our place that night.

HEROES!!!

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope.

26. What was the best book you read?
Hmm. I have trouble remembering when I read things. I liked Caucasia a lot, but the best may have been Coraline

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Leningrad Cowboys or Jonathan Coulton; hard to decide.

28. What did you want and get?
Some really good and rewarding work.
29. What did you want and not get?
The permanent version of The Best Temp Job Ever.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I didn't see many of this year's films. I'd be hard pressed to select a favorite if I did. All I know is that "Tideland" was by far the worst.

I turned 40. I was doped up from cutting my hand, and [livejournal.com profile] loracs threw me a kick-ass little family party.

Eh, who cares? This one was good as it was.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Concept?

34. What kept you sane?
Probably just my general tendency toward sanity. Boring, but true.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
N/A

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Getting congress away from the Republicans.

37. Who did you miss?
My mother.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
There's no "best" here. I met a fair number of really keen people, the most recent of which was probably [livejournal.com profile] mackenzie.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
Feeling guilty about a decision doesn't mean it was the wrong decision.
