Heh. I love porn, but my tastes are very specific. Most of what is out there doesn't appeal to me *at all*.

Cool. I can imagine liking that kind of thing, but sometimes it means spending a lot of time looking at stuff that not only doesn't turn one on, it repulses one.

That was my thought about the porn reviewer job. I think that in the face of certain kinds of porn, I would find it very difficult to objectively evaluate the material and write about whether some other person who was into that would find it to be a good example of the genre or not.

In general I'd like to think that I am, but if there's one area that's challenged that again and again, it's porn. There's a lot of porn out there that a lot of people like an awful lot that I just really have a hard time with being objective about. This is true of a lot of kinds of power play and *especially* true of degredation-based porn. For example, I just cannot handle or see the merit in photographs of women with, "PIG", "WHORE", "SLUT", "TRASH", "DIRTY" and so on written all over their bodies in lipstick or whatever. And yet, it's incredibly common and a lot of people (both men and women) seem to really get off on it (and the people who pose that way do seem to also enjoy it). I don't know if I could write good reviews of that sort of stuff.

And yeah, I've actually seen photos similar to what you describe here (the extreme anal fisting stuff) on sites before. It's distressing! I always wonder about the health impact of that.

It's interesting, before the internet became such a big part of my life. I saw my fair share of porn and even the stuff that didn't "float my boat" had a sort of fascination for me. I'd think well that's impressive or I didn't know you could but that there or really, people get hot for that? Nowadays I've seen or read a few things I really wish I hadn't.
