I've had a few friends say they wouldn't mind the FlyLady system if it didn't involve so many (sappy, god-centered, diet-oriented, etc.) emails. Well, Yahoo's been giving the FlyLady some trouble this week, so she's posted a link to a webpage that lists the daily/weekly reminders. I think it's really a useful thing for people who don't want to have their inboxes full of schmaltzy FlyLady crap.

I have an aunt who loves Flylady, but I don't think I've ever actually looked at any Flylady stuff.

i should look at that and make myself a list of things to do for an hour on saturdays. because there's a dust/dog hair rhino menacing my left ankle.

Have you been peeking into my inbox? I just signed up for the FlyLady emails again because things have gotten out of control at home. There is a lot of junk, true, but I apply the AA method to it: Take want you want and leave the rest.

I've heard other people have gotten good out of her system. But I have to say... Shine my sink? No. Just... no. I'm happy to wash it out, and keep it free of debris. But shining it and drying it is just too much.

despite wanting to be a professional organizer and thus reading/researching a lot on the topic, I hadn't heard of the FlyLady until you first mentioned her in your blog... it really turned me off that she talked about "body clutter"

The Organizer I most admire (only on a professional level) is Don Aslett. I don't like him personally - he's extremely religious (which I'm fine with) but he says things like, "the bible is spooky in it's accuracy" which don't add anything to his books and I wish he'd just leave out. He's also pretty non-feminist, not a sexist exactly, just less feminist than I'd expect from a man in such a non-traditional male field. And I HATE when he talks about "body clutter" or says stuff like "seasoning and toppings on food can be clutter, it takes up time and simple, plain food is better and more efficient, blah blah blah."

But professionally, I just ignore all that stuff, and his techniques are GREAT - he REALLY knows what he's talking about, from cleaning products to getting rid of clutter. Many libraries carry his books and he is very, very good.
