We have bees! A huge, honking swarm of 'em. I'll post updates here over the next few hours, but if you're allergic to bees and were planning on coming to Craft Night tonight, this is your heads-up.

They're really fascinating to watch, and they're kind of loud. I've never seen this big a swarm close up.

Honeybees? Cool! I haven't seen a honeybee swarm since I was a child.

I wonder if they'll stick around.

Me, too. I heard a story on NPR recently about how, in recent years, something like 60% of the honeybee population has mysteriously vanished. The entomologist they were interviewing gave some hunches about why it may be, but said they really at this point have no idea.

I heard that, too. In California, right? Or maybe the West Coast in general. I don't think it was everywhere.
